The People, The Land, The Torah

Hallelujah Are you ready to get into YAH’s word today? I am as well. I want to invite you to turn in your bible with me to Deuteronomy chapter 26 beginning with verse 1 in just a moment and I’ve entitled this message today, “The People, The Land, The Torah”. Let me say that again, the people, the land, the Torah. You’re going to find that YAH connects the people to the land and the land, and the people to the Torah and when the people obey the Torah then the land is blessed and the people are blessed and when the people disobey the Torah, then the land is cursed and the people are cursed And so we’re tracking along with the Torah portion and we’re going to begin in Deuteronomy chapter 26 for this week Deuteronomy 26 and verse 1 “And it shall be when you come into the land,” Notice it says, when you, that’s the people, come into the land, there’s the land, which YAH your Elohim is giving you as an inheritance and you possess it and dwell in it, that you shall take some of the first of all the fruits of the soil which you bring from your land that YAH your Elohim is giving you and shall put it in a basket and go to the place where YAH your Elohim chooses to make His Name dwell there. So this is wonderful. This is talking about the people crossing over the Yarden and going into their inheritance going into the Promised Land, promised by Elohim to the fathers, and that the land is going to produce bountifully it is a land flowing with milk and with honey. It’s going to produce great grains and great fruit and wonderful olives and oil and all kinds of beautiful and wonderful things. It’s going to produce bountifully, but there is a prerequisite to all of that and that prerequisite is obedience to the Torah, keep that in mind Verse 3. “And you shall come to the one who is priest in those days, and say to him, I shall declare today to YAH your Elohim that I have come to the land which YAH swore to our fathers to give us.” In other words, YAH brought them in, He promised it and He fulfilled His promise Verse 4 “And the priest shall take the basket from your hand and place it before the slaughter place or the altar of YAH your Elohim And you shall answer and say before YAH your Elohim, ‘My father was a perishing Aramean and he went down to Mitsrayim or to Egypt and sojourned there with few men and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and numerous.’ But the Mitsrites, the Egyptians, did evil to us and afflicted us and imposed hard labor on us Then we cried out to YAH Elohim of our fathers and YAH heard our voice and saw our affliction and our toil and our oppression and YAH brought us out of Mitsrayim with a strong hand and with an outstretched arm with great fear and with signs and wonders and He brought us to this place and has given us this land,” See the people, the land “a land flowing with milk and honey.” A land producing great abundance of all kinds of wonderful things “And now, see, I have brought the first fruits of the land which you, O YAH, have given me Then you shall place it before YAH your Elohim and bow down before YAH your Elohim and shall rejoice notice in all the good which YAH your Elohim has given to you and to your house you and the Lewite and the stranger who is among you.” So this is YAH’s plan. This is His good plan for the people that they would enter the land that they would obey His Torah, they would obey His Word and the land would produce bountifully all sorts of wonderful good things, a land flowing with milk and with honey. This is the plan that YAH has for the people, so He’s going to really make a strong

point here that you can’t separate the people and the land and the Torah, they’re all together, they’re unified. All right. So let’s go to Deuteronomy chapter 26 and begin with verse 15 and this talks about YAH blessing the people and the land. “Look from your set-apart dwelling place, from the heavens, and bless your people Israel and the land which you have given us as you swore to our fathers,” Again, here’s this statement, here’s this phrase we hear it a lot. “a land flowing with milk and honey.” He wants to bless the people, He wants to bless the land but there is a contingency, there’s a prerequisite. There’s something that must take place for the people in the land to be blessed Deuteronomy chapter 26 starting with verse 16 tells us that the land will be blessed if the Torah is obeyed. “Today YAH your Elohim is commanding you to do these laws and right-rulings. You’re to do them and you shall guard and do them with all your heart That’s to be wholehearted in your obedience and with all your being you have today caused YAH to proclaim to be your Elohim.” So YAH is proclaiming that He is your Elohim, He’s the Elohim of the children of Israel It goes on to say, “and to walk in His ways,” So the people are to walk in His ways “and guard His laws, or obey His laws, and His commands and His right-rulings and to obey His voice.” This reminds me a lot of what the scripture says about Abraham that Abraham obeyed in the same manner, he obeyed the laws and he obeyed the commands and he obeyed the right-rulings and he obeyed the voice of YAH. Yes, he believed upon YAH and it was accounted to him for righteousness or justification but it goes on to say he obeyed in this manner, he fully obeyed with all of his heart and with all of his being and Abraham is the example for us today. Yes, we are justified we can only be justified in one manner – through belief in Yeshua as Messiah, but once we are justified through belief then we are to go on and obey the scripture Yeshua does not lead us into lawlessness, He leads us into righteousness. His example is one of perfect obedience and He said follow me, so religion has it so wrong to say that we just believe in Yeshua, we’re supposed to follow Him but what do we follow Him into? Do we follow Him into lawlessness? That doesn’t make any sense. There is one called the “lawless one” who is coming, he is the anti-Messiah Yeshua was the righteous one and we’re to follow Him in His Torah lifestyle, in His righteousness Verse 18 “And YAH has caused you to proclaim today to be His people,” So they were to proclaim to be the people of Elohim “a treasured possession as He has spoken to you, and to guard all His commands, so as to set you high above all nations.” See this is what obedience will do for you It’ll set you apart from all the other nations. It’ll set you high above all the nations It says, “which He has made for a praise,” YAH wants to make His people a praise “and for a name and for esteem and for you to be a set-apart,” That means unmixed people, your bible may say holy, set-apart is what that means “…for you to be a set-apart people to YAH,” How are we set-apart? By obeying the bible, that’s how we’re set-apart, by obeying His commandments in scripture Because the world doesn’t want to obey and oftentimes religion doesn’t want to obey, but when we obey we are set-apart to YAH It says, for you are to be a set-apart people to YAH your Elohim as He has spoken in the way He’s spoken,” In other words, that’s His purpose, that’s His plan, that’s what He wants from us. And so we move along here Deuteronomy chapter 27 beginning with verse one, this is such a wonderful passage We’re going to draw some really interesting revelation from it Deuteronomy chapter 27 verse 1. It says, make a memorial, basically make a memorial to the Torah “And Mosheh, with the elders of Israel

commanded the people, saying, “Guard all the commands which I am commanding you today.” Notice, they never say guard some of the commands, just guard the ten words You never see that in scripture. There’s no example in scripture where it says you pick which commands that you want to obey No. Mosheh and all the elders of Israel are saying here to the people guard all the commands which YAH is commanding you today Look at verse 2. “and it shall be on the day when you pass over the Yarden and into the Promised Land to the land which YAH your Elohim is giving you, that you shall set up for yourselves large stones,” In other words, you’re going to gather up some stones, some very large stones, this is going to be a memorial and more than a memorial, it’s going to be like a billboard, it’s an ancient billboard. “That you shall set up for yourselves large stones and plaster them with plaster,” In other words, you’re going to fill in the cracks, you’re going to make a billboard, it’s going to be like a roadside billboard and write on them all the words of this Torah so they’re just entering into the land, it’s the people of Elohim, it’s the Promised Land of Elohim and what is right there, along the way as they enter in, there’s this huge billboard that has all the words of the Torah written on it And so, you have the people, you have the land, and you have the Torah Notice it says, write on them on those large stones that have been plastered over all the words of this Torah. Don’t add to it. Don’t take anything from it When you have passed over so that you go into the land which YAH your Elohim is giving you a land flowing with milk and honey as YAH Elohim of your fathers has spoken to you So you’re passing into the land YAH fulfilled His promise. He got you there, He’s bringing you in, He’s saying this land is postured for abundance, it’s postured to bless you It’s ready to bless you, but you can’t just go into the land and start receiving the blessing You have to realize that you have to embrace the Torah You have to love the Torah, you have to study the Torah, you have to obey the Torah, do the Torah, let the Torah be your life And when you do that, then the blessing of YAH will be on the land and the land will be a land flowing with milk and honey, and because the land is producing all these wonderful things for you you will be blessed Hallelujah. So the blessing is in obedience and that is a biblical principle, it runs throughout the entire bible The blessing is in obedience, the curse is when we disobey. Look at verse 4. “And it shall be when you have passed over the yard and that on Mount Eybal you set up these stones, which I command you today, and you plaster them with plaster,” We just spoke about that “and build a slaughter place to YAH your Elohim there, a slaughter place or an altar of stones do not use an iron tool on them. Build the slaughter place of YAH your Elohim with complete stones and you shall offer ascending offerings on it to YAH your Elohim, and shall slaughter peace offerings and eat there and rejoice before YAH your Elohim.” So what’s He saying? There’s to be a big celebration and the celebration is about the fact that YAH fulfilled His promise in bringing the people to the promised land, the celebration is the fact that the land is postured for abundance, it’s a land flowing with milk and honey, and the celebration is about a celebration of the Torah that the Torah brings the people wisdom, the Torah brings the people life, the Torah brings the people blessing and that if they’ll obey the Torah, they’ll be blessed in the land the land will be blessed YAH will raise them up high above all the other nations of the world. Hallelujah. They’ll be a special possession to Him and those same principles apply to all of us who believe in Yeshua today, because we are believing Israel, we are believing Israel. Our blessing is in our obedience and when we obey the bible. He raises us

up, He exalts us, He gives us a name, we’re a praise Hallelujah. And He blesses us This is wonderful. It says, slaughter your ascending offerings and your peace offerings and eat there. In other words, take that meat and have a celebration have a cookout, have a barbecue, have a time of rejoicing and rejoice over the favor of Elohim, rejoice over the land, rejoice over the Torah. It really is a celebration of this wonderful Torah These are the guidelines and instructions of the Creator, the One who created all things. He knows more than anyone how to live a blessed life because He created it all and if we’ll simply obey Him then we will be blessed Verse 8 says, “And you shall write all the words of this Torah on the stones, plainly and well.” So you’re to write these words plainly and well they need to be readable and the people need to read them and study them and do them because obedience to the Torah is the key to their blessing and their well-being and the well-being of their children and their children’s children And Mosheh and the priests, the Lewites, spoke to all Israel saying, “Be silent and hear, O Israel, this day you have become the people of YAH your Elohim and you shall obey the voice of YAH your Elohim and do His commands and His laws which I command you today.” Because your well-being, your blessing, the blessing of the land depends upon it. If you obey, the land will be blessed and you will be blessed If you disobey, the land will be cursed and you will be cursed And then, here’s another really interesting object lesson for the children of Israel and it says a lot to us as well Deuteronomy chapter 27 beginning with verse 11, it says, “And Mosheh commanded the people on that day saying, “These are to stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people when you have passed over the Yarden and Shim’on,” I’m talking about tribes here “Lewi, Yehudah, Yissaskar, and Yoseph, and Binyamin.” So you have representatives of six tribes standing on Mount Gerizim and what are they to do? They’re to bless the people, bless the people, shout out blessings, shout out blessings, shout out blessings They’re up on the mountain, the people are down below as they enter in the land and these are to stand on Mount Eybal to curse Re’uben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.” So you’ve got representatives of these six tribes on Mount Eybal and what are they doing they’re cursing? They’re throwing down curses and you got the people walking past Wow, what an object lesson. So they cross over the Yarden and YAH was so good and so faithful, He fulfilled His promise to get them there He says, the land is going to be a land flowing with milk and honey, it’s postured to bless you to prosper you But before we go any further, I need you to get these large stones together plaster them over and write on that billboard all the words of the Torah and then I want you to build an altar, I want you to make sacrifices ascending offerings and peace offerings, then take the meat and roast it and have a big celebration Celebrate the Torah and understand that your blessing is contingent upon your obedience to the Torah And then, once they’ve done all that, they’re going to pass on a little further and they’re going to have representatives of six tribes on Mount Gerizim shouting down blessings. I’m sure they were feeling good receiving the blessings. And then on Mount Eybal, there were representatives of the other six tribes and they were throwing down curses and just cursing and cursing, and that was to teach them a lesson that obedience to the Torah will bring blessings Disobedience to the Torah will bring curses and you can choose you decide We know that in another place YAH says, today I set before you life and death

blessing and cursing choose life that you and your descendants might live That’s what I love about YAH. He gives us tests but He gives us the answer He says obedience will produce blessing so choose to obey. He says disobedience will produce curses so don’t disobey What a wonderful lesson they learned that day And then the Lewites spoke up and they shouted out with a loud voice Deuteronomy chapter 27 starting with verse 14, the people acknowledge that there is a curse associated with disobedience to the Torah. Verse 14 “And the Lewites shall speak with a loud voice and say to all the men of Israel, cursed is the man who makes a carved or molded image an abomination to YAH, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret,” So there’s a curse for anyone who does that. “and all the people shall answer and say ‘Amen!'” So they said it back, amen. Then the Lewites said, “‘Cursed is he who makes light of his father or his mother.’ and all the people shall say ‘Amen!’ Cursed is he who moves his neighbor’s boundary and all the people shall say ‘Amen!'” And they go through all these curses and you can read them right there in Deuteronomy chapter 27. The very last curse is verse 26, it says, “Cursed is he who does not establish the words of this Torah,” The word “established” means upholds or who does not do all the words of this Torah. “and all the people shall say ‘Amen!'” So we’re going to see a little bit later that Sha’ul actually uses this verse when he’s talking about the fact that Mashiach, or Messiah, has redeemed us from the curse of the law, he’s referring to this particular curse. Cursed is he who does not do or uphold or establish all the words of this Torah and they all agreed and said amen, so we’re going to read that in just a moment. But let’s move along here. The blessing of obedience to the Torah Wow this is so wonderful. Deuteronomy chapter 28 verse 1. This tells us how we can be blessed when we obey. It says, “And it shall be if you diligently obey the voice of YAH your Elohim,” I want to stop right there and say that word, “diligently”, so important because there are people in religion who truly do love Yeshua, people who love Jesus, but they’re not diligently obeying. Maybe they’re confused about what they should obey, maybe they think they should just live out of a little sliver in the back of the book, I call it the sliver mentality They say well I don’t live out of the vast majority of the bible, all that’s passed away I just live out of that little portion in the back of the book, they call it the New Testament. What they don’t realize is that the writings of the emissaries, or what’s called the New Testament, that body of material is simply commentary on what has already been written, and so you can’t just live out of the commentary Some people like to go to the cliff notes when they’re in college and they have to write a paper, they don’t read the book, they just go by the cliff notes and they try to write a report based on the cliff notes. They just don’t have enough information, they end up making stuff up and that’s what religion has done for 2000 years because they weren’t familiar with all of the bible They ended up making stuff up when they got to certain passages that they didn’t understand they created doctrine and traditions of men. Instead of sticking with the bible feasts they came up with Roman holidays, they made stuff up. So it’s time for believers and those who truly love Yeshua to learn to diligently obey the voice of YAH our Elohim. Notice it says, to guard to do all His commands. Notice it says, all His commands not some of His commands Which I command you today that YAH your Elohim shall set you high above all nations of the earth. Now we read that earlier, it’s an exaltation of His people “And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you.” So they’re chasing you if you’re obedient. They’re coming after you They’re going to overtake you, you can’t outrun them. “if you obey the voice of YAH

your Elohim Blessed are you in the city and blessed are you in the field In the country. Blessed is the fruit of your body. That’s your children and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your livestock.” So the land’s going to be blessed. “The increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.” Now you may not have cattle or flocks, but it’s just talking about what you set your hand to do that will be blessed “Blessed is your basket and you’re needing bowl,” You’re not going to run out of food “Blessed are you when you come in and blessed are you when you go out.” So you’re blessed coming and going “YAH causes your enemies,” This is a good one. “who rises against you to be smitten before your face,” In other words, He fights our battles for us “they come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.” Now we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood but we do wrestle against principalities and powers and rulers of the darkness of this age and host of spiritual wickedness in the heavenly places. How many of you want YAH to fight your spiritual battles for you and keep the demons on the run? They may come against you one way but they’re going to run from you in seven ways. Verse 8. “YAH commands the blessing on you,” How many of you want YAH to command the blessing on you? “…in your storehouses,” That could be your bank accounts “and in all to which you set your hand and shall bless you in the land which YAH your Elohim is giving you.” He’s going to bless you in the land but He’s also going to bless the land “YAH does establish you as a set-apart people for Himself you are His own special people as He has sworn to you, if you guard the commands of YAH your Elohim and walk in His ways.” That’s a big “if”, there’s the contingency We have to guard His commands and walk in His ways “And all peoples of the earth shall see that the Name of YAH is called upon you and they shall be afraid of you.” They’ll highly respect you and hold you in awe “And YAH shall make you to have plenty of what is good, in the fruit of your body,” Again that’s your children “in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground, in the land of which you swore to your fathers to give you YAH opens to you His good treasure,” I want Him to open up His good treasure to me. “the heavens, to give the rain to your land,” He’s going to rain on your land “in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand and you shall lend to many nations,” You’re going to have enough resources to be able to lend to nations “but you do not borrow. And YAH shall make you the head and not the tail and you shall be only on top and not be beneath if,” Here it is again “you obey the commands of YAH your Elohim which I command you today to guard and do.” So the blessings are contingent upon our obedience “And do not turn aside from any of the words which I am commanding you today, right or left to go after other mighty ones to serve them.” He’s made this very very plain to us that he wants to bless us, He wants us to have all the good, He wants the land to produce bountifully for us but we must obey, the blessing takes place because of our obedience. And then look at Deuteronomy chapter 28 starting with verse 15 This talks about the curses that come because of disobedience to the Torah “And it shall be if you do not obey the voice of YAH your Elohim, to guard to do all His commands and His laws which I command you today, that all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you.” You remember half of the tribes who were up on Mount Gerizim, speaking the blessings, the other half they were up on Mount Eybal, what were they doing? They were shouting down curses “Cursed are you in the city and cursed are you in the field Cursed is your basket and your kneading bowl. Cursed is the fruit of your body” You don’t want your children cursed “and the fruit of your land, the increase of your cattle in the offspring of your flocks. Cursed are you when you come in and cursed are you when you go out YAH sends on you the curse the confusion and the rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly,” And Sha’ul going to

tell us the ultimate curse is the curse of death, the curse of death. Why? “because of the evil of your doings by which you have forsaken me.” When we disobey His Word we are forsaking Him, that’s the way He sees it Some people say, well I didn’t mean to offend Him in that way – but you do, you do offend Him. Well I didn’t know – well I’ll tell you, it’s time to learn Verse 21 “YAH makes the plague cling to you until He has consumed you from the land which you are going to possess. YAH strikes you with wasting disease and with inflammation and with burning and with extreme heat and with the sword, and with blight and with mildew and they shall pursue you,” You remember we talked about the fact that blessings pursue us and overtake us when we obey? Well when we disobey, the curses pursue us until you perish it says “And your heavens which are over your head shall be bronze and the earth which is under you iron YAH makes the rain of your land powder,” It’s like dropping down powder on top of you “and dust from the heavens it comes down on you until you are destroyed. YAH causes you to be defeated before your enemies, you go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them.” So it’s the opposite, you go out against your enemies one way but you end up running away in seven different directions “And you shall become a horror to all the reigns of the earth to all the kingdoms of the earth and your carcasses shall be food for all the birds of the heavens and the beasts of the earth with no one to frighten them away.” Verse 27 “YAH shall strike you with the boils of Mitsrayim the boils of Egypt with tumors with the scab and with the itch from which you are unable to be healed.” Now I can’t just read all of these curses that will take up all of our time today There are so many, but I do want you to look at Deuteronomy chapter 28 verse 45 It says, “And all these curses shall come upon you and they shall pursue and overtake you until you are destroyed,” Why? “because you did not obey the voice of YAH your Elohim to guard His commands and His laws which He commanded you.” So they’re going to pursue you and overtake you to destroy you, again, the ultimate curse is death. “And they shall be upon you for a sign and for a wonder and on your seed,” That’s your children. “…forever Because you did not serve YAH your Elohim with joy and with gladness of heart for all the plenty.” That’s a key verse. You did not serve YAH your Elohim with joy and with gladness of heart for all the plenty that He provided You remember the land is postured to bless you when you obey? And these curses come upon you because you did not serve YAH your Elohim, that means obey His commands with joy and gladness of heart because of all of the plenty, the abundance that He has given you. Deuteronomy chapter 28 verse 58 says this, “If you do not guard to do all the words of this Torah that are written in this book, to fear this esteemed and awesome Name YAH your Elohim then YAH shall bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues, great and lasting plagues, and grievous and lasting sicknesses and He shall bring back on you all the diseases of Mitsrayim of which you were afraid,” He’s going to bring them back “and they shall cling to you also every sickness and every plague which is not written in the book of this Torah YAH does bring upon you until you are destroyed.” Well that’s not Good News but it is bible news and He’s made it very clear He wants to bless us the land is postured to bless us and the land will be blessed and will bless us and YAH bless us if we will obey His commands If we do not, then we have a very tragic end Well I want to take you over to Galatians now chapter three. We’re going to pick up with verse 10 and we’re going to talk about the fact that Messiah has redeemed us from the curse of the Torah, the curse of the Torah Now religion will say well the Torah is cursed, see right there it says the curse of the Torah, the Torah is

cursed – That’s nonsense. Torah means the teachings of Elohim, the instructions of Elohim teaching us and training us how to live a blessed life, a blessed life of obedience This is not talking about the Torah is cursed, this is talking about the curse of disobedience to the Torah. Now, didn’t we already go over all those scriptures in the Torah about the curse that comes when people disobey, but let’s look what Sha’ul writes here in Galatians chapter 3 picking up with verse 10. It says, “For as many as are of works of Torah are under the curse,” Now what’s this talking about? Let’s make this real clear. If you’re trying to get your justification by Torah obedience and not believing in Yeshua then you’re under those curses that we read about earlier, especially the one that says cursed is the person who does not continue in all the words of this Torah That’s what Sha’ul was talking about here “for it has been written, cursed as everyone who does not continue in all that has been written in the book of the Torah to do them.” We read that verse out of the Torah just a moment ago “And that no one is declared right by Torah before Elohim is clear, for “The righteous shall live by belief.” The righteous shall receive their justification and their life through belief implying belief in Yeshua Verse 12 “And the Torah is not of belief but the man who does them shall live by them.” That’s what the Torah says. “Messiah,” Here’s the important verse here. “Messiah redeemed us from the curse of the Torah,” What is the ultimate curse of disobedience to the Torah? It’s death. Death is the ultimate curse to disobedience to the Torah. Messiah has redeemed us, those of us who have believed in Messiah we’ve been redeemed from the curse of death, the curse of death that comes when we disobey the Torah “having become a curse for us,” If the curse is death, that’s saying that Messiah has died for us, He became a curse for us. He died for us. “for it has been written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,” And Yeshua was hung on a tree and died on the tree, He became the curse He redeemed us from the curse. We’re not under that curse because He took the curse. He became the curse He died for us on the tree Look at verse 14, this is so important “In order that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the nations in Messiah Yeshua,” The blessing of Abraham remember when YAH spoke to Abraham and said through you and your Seed, the Messiah all the nations of the world will be blessed, the blessing will come through you Abraham in your belief, your example of belief and through Mashiach, through Messiah. Now what is the ultimate blessing that comes from Abraham and Yeshua when we believe upon Yeshua? Something happens very powerful, very special, very transformative It says it right here in this last phrase, in this verse. “…to receive the promise of the Spirit, the indwelling Set-apart Spirit through belief.” The promise of the Father is the promise that YAH made to Abraham and his Seed, Messiah, that those that would believe upon Messiah would receive the indwelling Set-apart Spirit. We know in Jeremiah 31 starting with verse 31, that when we believe upon Yeshua the Spirit takes the Torah of Elohim not a revised version, not a watered down version, not a little sliver version but the Torah of Elohim and places it in our mind and writes it upon our hearts, the Spirit internalizes the Torah, and then we’re going to find out in a moment in Ezekiel that there’s a surgery that goes on in the believer’s life – that old heart of stone is removed, that’s the “I don’t want to obey” heart and we get a new heart and then we have the power of the Spirit and the Spirit gives us the want-to and the power to be obedient We’re going to see that here in just a moment But Messiah has redeemed us from the

curse of death that comes when we disobey the Torah He became a curse, He died for us, He took our sins upon Himself, He paid our death penalty He died on that tree so that we might be blessed with Abraham and receive the promise of the Father, the promise of the indwelling Set-apart Spirit through our belief in Yeshua and what happens when we receive the indwelling Set-apart Spirit? We’re given the want-to and the power to be obedient to the Torah so we receive what we need, we are empowered. We receive the tools that we need to be obedient so that when we are obedient then what happens? We are blessed and we walk in the blessings of Elohim and that’s what He’s always wanted. They failed under the original covenant because they would not obey, but in the New Covenant, in the blood of Yeshua, He gives us the equipment, He gives us the tools, He gives us what we need to be successful so that we can, within the context of the covenant, walk in the blessings of Elohim. Now, let me take you over to Romans chapter 7 we’re going to start with verse 14 And this is one of the most powerful passages and when I teach it in proper biblical context, many people scratch their heads and they say is this really Sha’ul, or the Apostle Paul, teaching these things? I didn’t know that that’s what he actually was saying Well, let’s take a look and I think you’ll be amazed Romans chapter 7 beginning with verse 14 “For we know that the Torah is spiritual,” Well I thought the Torah was evil. I thought the Torah needed to be abolished I thought the Torah had flaws in it No, Sha’ul, the Apostle Paul, says the Torah is spiritual “but I am fleshly,” This is Sha’ul speaking, this is Paul speaking “I am fleshly sold under sin.” Sin is the transgression of the Torah So what’s he saying is, he saying that there’s a problem with the Torah that’s what religion says. No He’s saying the Torah is right, the Torah is righteous, the Torah is good, the Torah is spiritual but I have the problem. The problem is with me. He said I am fleshly, there’s something residing in my flesh that is evil and I am sold under sin. In other words, I’m a slave to sin, I’m a slave to disobedience, I’m a slave to disobedience to the Torah Verse 15. “For what I work or what I do I know not,” There’s this strange thing that’s going on in me. “for what I wish,” What does he wish? He wishes to obey the Torah, he wishes to be obedient “for what I wish that I do not practice,” I don’t obey the Torah, I want to but I don’t “but what I hate,” What does he hate? He hates to disobey the Torah “that I do.” He says I end up disobeying the Torah, I don’t want to do it, I hate it, but I end up doing it I end up disobeying “But if I do what I do not wish,” If I end up doing what I don’t want to do, if I disobey the Torah when I want to obey it “I agree with the Torah that it is good.” That my desire to obey the Torah even though I’m breaking the Torah, that is an agreement that the Torah is good. In other words, I know the Torah is good I just haven’t been able to obey it “And now it is no longer I that work it or do it but the sin dwelling in me.” This is talking about the evil inclinations that reside in our flesh, there are evil inclinations our flesh is inclined to evil it wants to break the Torah and he’s saying if I do what I do not wish I agree that the Torah is good and now it is no longer i that work it or do it in other words it’s no longer i who break the torah but the evil inclinations dwelling in me that drive me to disobey for i know that in me that is in my flesh dwells no good for to wish is present with me i want to obey the torah but to work the good i do not find

to wish is present he wants to obey the torah but he’s unable to for the good that i wish to do i do not do but the evil i do not wish to do this i practice and if i do that which i do not wish it is no longer i who work it but the sin the evil inclinations dwelling in me i find therefore this law that when i wish to do the good what’s the good the good is described and defined in the torah i find therefore this law that when i wish to do the good that the evil is present with me that evil that resides in the flesh for i delight in the torah of elohim according to the inward man my spirit man delights in the torah of elohim this is paul this is shahool saying that he delights in the torah people say well shall use the book of romans to abolish the torah he says right here that he delights in the torah he delights in the torah of elohim according to the inward man according to the spirit by the way he’s quoting the psalms here when he says that but i see another torah or little l law or dynamic in my members in my flesh battling against the torah of my mind the torah of my mind is is the will i have a will i want to obey the torah but there are evil inclinations in my flesh battling against my will and bringing me into captivity to the torah of sin the dynamic of sin which is in my members so there’s this battle going on i want to obey but i have evil inclinations in my flesh and those evil inclinations in my flesh war against my will and they bring me into captivity i’m a slave to sin sin is the transgression of the torah look what he says in verse 24 this is so powerful wretched man that i am he understands how wretched we are without messiah i tell you mankind had spiraled down to such a low place our consciences were seared with a hot iron there was so much wickedness in the world and he wanted to obey but he couldn’t so he called himself a wretch wretched man that i am who shall deliver me from this body speaking of his physical body this body of death because sin leads to death look at the answer verse 25 thanks to elohim through yeshua messiah our master thanks to elohim this is the solution this is how i can get to the place where i truly can obey and be blessed thanks to elohim through yeshua messiah our master so then with the mind i myself truly serve the tour of elohim he says with my with my mind with my will i serve the torah of elohim doesn’t say anything about him making up his mind to abolish the torah of elohim it says with his will with his mind he serves the torah of elohim he wants to serve the torah of elohim or obey the torah of elohim but with the flesh and those evil inclinations in the flesh the torah or the dynamic of sin look at verse 1 of chapter 8 there is then now no condemnation to those who are in messiah yeshua don’t stop there keep going who do not walk according to the flesh in other words who do not give in to the evil inclinations of the flesh but according to the spirit in other words according to the power of the spirit you remember what we talked about when we believe in yeshua we receive the indwelling set of part spirit who places the torah in our minds so that we think about how we can love yah the way he wants to be loved through obedience and he he writes the torah on our hearts he internalizes the torah he makes it deeper within us he doesn’t abolish it he doesn’t throw it out he doesn’t cherry pick it he places it deeper within us all right and when we live according to the spirit then we have no condemnation because we’re in obedience hallelujah for the torah of the spirit of the life in messiahshua has set me free from the torah of sin and of death so this dynamic of living in the spirit i have life i’m in obedience i am in blessing it has set me free from the dynamic of you sin you die that’s the whole cursing side of this

thing we’ve been set free from the curses that come when we disobey the torah because now we have the spirit living in us and we have what we need to obey verse three for the torah being powerless in that it was weak through the flesh in other words the torah didn’t have any power to make people obey the torah was powerless it couldn’t make people obey the torah being powerless in that it was weak through the flesh the evil inclinations of the flesh leading people to sin elohim having sent his own son in the likeness of flesh of sin in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin condemned sin in the flesh in other words rendered sin powerless for the believer so that the righteousness of the torah should be completed in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit we have to stop and say allah over this because shall is saying something really wonderful and very powerful and most people in religion just read right past it and they have no idea what it means it says so that the righteousness of the torah the righteous requirement of the torah the right living that the torah prescribes should be completed should be accomplished should be done in us who do not walk according to the flesh and give in to the evil inclinations of the flesh and remain a slave to sin which is transgression of the torah but according to the spirit in other words we’re walking in a whole new dimension in a whole new place of power by the spirit the spirit is going to give us all that we need to be able to obey and when we obey we’re going to walk in blessing and what do we know about the torah it came to give people life and blessing verse 5 for those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the matters of the flesh so if you’re living according to the flesh you’re just in bondage to the carnal of the fleshly mind that’s all you think about but those who live according to the spirit the matters of the spirit so when you’re filled with a spirit then your mind is controlled and inspired and filled with the spirit and the things of the spirit for the mind of the flesh is death it’s going to lead you to death it’s going to lead you to sin but the mind of the spirit is life and peace so if you’re filled with the spirit your mind is going to be filled with the things of the spirit and the spirit is going to lead you to obey and you’re going to have life and you’re going to have peace verse 7 because the mind of the flesh the carnal mind is enmity toward elohim it’s an enemy of elohim notice for it does not subject itself to the torah of elohim i thought shall abolish the torah why does he keep coming back making reference to the torah of elohim notice what he says the carnal fleshly mind is an enemy of elohim why because it does not subject itself it does not submit to the torah of elohim it doesn’t submit to the words of elohim to the commandments of elohim neither indeed is it able the carnal mind cannot obey the torah it cannot be obedient it doesn’t want to be and it cannot be verse 8 and those who are in the flesh are notice this phrase unable to please elohim you know what this implies that if you don’t obey the torah you cannot please elohim that pleasing elohim is about obedience well we’ve known that we read all those scriptures but you are not in the flesh but in the spirit if indeed the spirit of elohim dwells in you and if anyone does not have the spirit of messiah this one is not his you need the spirit of messiah you don’t need religion you need the spirit of truth you don’t need the lies that have been promoted through religion now final passage this is ezekiel chapter 36 we’re going to start with verse 25 we quote this at the beginning of every gathering it is a powerful passage we’re going to take it a little further than we normally do because this gets back to the people the land and the torah and what this is going to tell us

is that yah is going to cause believing israel and we’re a part of believing israel when you believed in yeshua you were grafted into believing israel so all the promises that are made to believing israel are made to you because you’re a part of believing israel yah is going to cause believing israel to walk in his laws and to guard his right rulings he’s going to cause it it’s going to be something that yah does in us and he’s going to do it through his indwelling set apart spirit the set of part spirit is the spirit of yah it’s yah’s spirit that he gives us and the spirit lives within us when we believe upon yeshua ezekiel chapter 36 beginning with verse 25 and i shall sprinkle clean water on you this is yah speaking and you shall be clean from all your filthiness and from all your idols i cleanse you in other words from all your disobedience by the way water baptism is the place where the circumcision of the heart takes place it’s the circumcision of mashiach the circumcision of messiah where where that body of sin is cut away from the heart and you are then prepared and postured for obedience hallelujah and i shall sprinkle clean water on you and you shall be clean from all your filthiness all your disobedience and from all your idols those things that you love more than elohim i cleanse you notice he cleanses us by his spirit and i shall give you a new heart we all need a new heart and put a new spirit within you he’s going to put his spirit in us and i shall take the heart of stone out of your flesh the heart of stone is the i don’t want to obey heart and there are a lot of people in religion who have the heart of stone and they don’t even realize it they think they’ve been set free from the torah from what they call the law they sing songs about being free i’m free i’m free i’m free free from what i’m free from the law so that i can now live lawlessly and i can do what’s right in my own eyes we’re not free from the law we’re free from sin and sin is the transgression of the law he takes the heart of stone the i don’t want to obey heart out of our flesh it says and i shall give you a heart of flesh that’s a warm moldable shapeable heart a heart of flesh it’s the i want to obey heart and put my spirit within you whose spirit is it it’s i’ll be your spirit notice and i shall cause you to walk in my laws and guard my right rulings and you shall do them you’re going to do them he doesn’t want another failed marriage he’s not going to put all these important things on the people to do he’s going to do them himself he’s going to do it inside the believer that’s why it’s important you have to believe you must believe in yeshua that’s how you get into the new covenant and you shall dwell in the land here’s the land again and you shall dwell in the land that i give to your fathers i believe all of us who are part of believing israel are going to end up in the land during the millennial kingdom i want to get there sooner we’re all going to end up in the land we’re going to live in the land that he promised our fathers and you shall be my people and i shall be your elohim and i shall save you from all your uncleannesses i’m going to save you from your uncleannesses and i shall call for the grain and increase it he says i’m going to call for the grain and increase it he wants the blessing on the land and i shall bring no scarcity of food upon you there’s going to be an abundance and i shall increase the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields so that you need never again bear the reproach of scarcity of food among the nations he’s going to bless the land and you shall remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good you’re going to remember all those things and you shall loathe yourselves in your own eyes for your crookednesses and for your abomination so there’s going to be real repentance a testify returning to the master in obedience not for your sake am i acting declares the master yah let it be known to you be ashamed and blush for your ways o house of israel we are a part of believing israel thus said the master yah on the day that i cleanse you from all your crookednesses i shall cause the cities to be inhabited

and the ruined places shall be rebuilt and the land that was laid waste tilled instead of being a ruin before the eyes of all who pass by why was it laid waste because of their disobedience he says in that day when you believe upon yeshua when you get filled with my indwelling set apart spirit when i give you a new heart put my spirit in you i’m going to cause you to be obedient and when you begin to obey then what am i going to do i’m going to fulfill the promise that i made israel this is believing israel under the new covenant of bringing them into their land of blessing the land the land is going to produce an abundance and they’re going to be blessed and i’m going to be their elohim and they’re going to be my children a special possession it says the land that was laid waste will be tilled instead of being a ruin before the eyes of all who pass by and they shall say this land that was laid waste has become like the garden of eden hallelujah and the wasted the deserted and the destroyed cities are now walled and inhabited then the nations which are left all around you shall know that i yah have rebuilt the destroyed places and planted what was laid waste i ya have spoken it and i shall do it you
