how to repair and paint bath tub do it yourself refinishing diy painting repairing fixing bondo

I’m going to be showing you how to use this Calvin sink refinishing kit I had some great results in a previous tub it was in horrible condition this tub is not in horrible condition there are a couple spots where I will use bondo the same can use for car bundle to patch up just to have it safe next many many years a previous Talbot used was a horrible condition but it came out really really good one of the downsides to this is it takes about a week to dry properly the downside is it creates a lot of paint in the air which is really bad you have to close the door and open the window put a fan and get it out otherwise you’ll have pain going to hide your whole house but otherwise this is a really excellent conditioning product which it does a really good job and I’ll show you how to do it step by steps pretty simple I’m going to show you them before and after pictures of the other tub I did it was in horrible condition and you’ll see just how nice it turned out you first thing I’m going to do is I install one of these new ones I just bought a property’s really quite bad condition so put Wendy’s on if you have it it makes it easier to clean it if you don’t have it then you don’t have to but but I found out this is much easier you can rinse all the walls and once you fill it up to do the chemical cleaning it and scrubbing it it helps rinse everything off much easier so pretty good useful tool you wrapped I use it but helps me oh it’s kind of hard to see what there’s some rust eMeter I’m going to use 80 grit sandpaper this is what I use for car bondo if you’ve done it forward you know how simple it is if you haven’t it just get some 80 grit don’t take 40 it’ll be probably too tough rough stuff so the mono can stick on it really well the rest can be covered it would keep on growing this will you remove it and you put a clean surface bondable sealer then you put primer on top to seal the bondo and then you follow the steps of the process to clean the top couple times wipe it down send it out with a wool cloth and wash again then you then you dry it off let it dry off tape off what you want to tape off I’m going to rip all these walls off so I’m not going to tape this but but the floor tiles will tape it out to protect them again like I said one of the bad sides is that you will have a lot of paint floating in the air little particles and you do want to close the door because it will travel throughout the house little trouble on a tile and it make it sticky so you’re gonna want to open your window close the bathroom door let me put a fan up on the window your health if you don’t have that then hopefully your bathroom as close to your AC unit and open up the door so it can suck as much as the of the paint as a can out and you’re just got to do a little slower because the food the first full coat is going to be a lot of paint particles floating in air so what you might want to do is do a small section what the room for fusiform innit to come back continue another section it’s going to take longer but so there I use the 80 grid some people might say you something finer than 80 grid and maybe 120 but I had good success with 80 I would not recommend 40 tiny microscopic scratches that your I can barely see this paint’s gonna cover it’s really thick so it’s good I’m using this bondo it’s made for aluminum and and metal and I think it’s plastic and stuff like that you don’t have to use this you can use some notes but this is just something I use because they also bondo cars so I want to show you how to do the mixture it’s very simple could be very quick so this is already too much bundle I just got to do it so be easier to maintain you can see that it’s not a lot I’m not able to record and do this it is very quick for that much you might want to put less some like this just in do a little more just to make a quick dry but you have to be very quick with this bondo in the house or it is different than doing bondo outside on the garage it’s hot in there so you want to put a little more so you can drive quicker but do a couple test runs if you have done before because they can drive very quick and once it starts drying very quickly you gotta throw it away otherwise you’re going to mess up you have to start scratching off so I’ll just show you how to do it’s really hard

to do with one hand so I gotta go so I mixed it all up pretty well I’m gonna be very quick now just like loco Don another one right in there don’t worry about it going over and this is perfect it’d be so easy to send pretty quick it’s good enough the dark blue color me there’s a lot of the hardener in it it’s going to dry very quickly while that’s drying you can go ahead and start ripping off the old around here and the bonnet dries pretty quick we’ll just rinse it off again and start scrubbing it through well the can sell tools of this made out of plastic so start to see this we could be careful Tim of them there’s to them this is for nine o’clock but I put a glove and he’s my thumb my index works perfectly but to remove it this does help you wanna show you how it works pretty cool because it is made out of plastic it completely and you get the point this awesome tool some kind of elevator does a really good job the better you do the better himself and then there’s a good job removing it crushing the awesome so this is okay because you knew Cox is going to cover that that will be noticeable anymore so I’m going to use a 80 grit sandpaper on this you don’t have to use a block or anything because this is just by hand they’re not working on the party the whole you’re going to use the I’m using one eighty you can do maybe 120 I wouldn’t go any lower than that 180 200 should be perfect to smooth it out get all the tiny scratches that we can’t see smoothing it up then with primer it in do 180 or 200 again and then we’re ready to start washing a tub with chemical and rinsing a couple times it’s understanding it first eighty then 180 I made a piece of paper put a couple tapes just to hold it edges you want to put on the edge on the outside of it we’re just going to spray a little bit of primer on there just to seal it so there we go this is primary pick it up really well son work several primary very prime the black primer this isn’t exactly card it’s just a bathtub so don’t have to be a hundred percent perfect right really quick and once it dries I’ll show you the primer dried was a touch with your finger if nothing comes up you alright it’s good just set it down lightly this will cover percent paper very quickly I’m using 180 good cheap primer comes in a can good expensive primer is what they use on corners that shops this is good enough for a tub this one ought to get a fresh one it should look something like that smooth I also took the sandpaper and just took out some of the overspray which it won’t harm it because once once I clean it I’m going to use a steel wool cloth comes with the kit and thoroughly clean the whole tub but it’s going to be very nice then I washed it with a sponge or cloth clean water then I used a bucket of chemical that it says in the pamphlet then you dry it and then you use a steel wool cloth there are two of them so I used one foot for one one time that I use a second to go over it again just to make sure and then you rinse it again then you dry it again and now I just gotta wait for this water step dripping so once the prep work is all done what you do is because I’m going to rip off these walls these three shower walls so I didn’t tape them up and got a spray on them but I did protect the walls over here I use clear tape because any kind of tape some garbage paper or newspapers adds and then what also it is I also cover the floors and I have a new toilet and countertop a sink bathroom sink that I’m covering up because you will have a lot of paint particles and you do not want to get it all over the place one more thing that I’m going to use for the first time is I have a bunch

of cardboard I’m going to put like this what I’m spraying this side of the tub everything is going to be coming at me and I’m going to flip clubs and I do not want it to go out of the room so I’m going to be using this when I spray this side here and also to prevent anything from spraying out into the toilet over there simple things but just learn to make it easier put bag on one of these and I’ll bag up there because you do not want water dripping it will really mess it up so we’re ready to spring in the window and also turn the AC on us under turn is right over here at excited or once I start spraying it’s going to be very hard to beat the one column close the bathroom door and that has been time for my fans so it is what it is better shake the bottle really well and here’s we do it just a little tape test frailness cardboard good you don’t want no leaks it’s really hard to breathe in here I’ve got to come in every couple of seconds to get a once the paint particles come out and keep on spraying it but this way I’m keeping a house rest of the house clean and my feet clean and the floors clean I got my first coat I know it looks magical but it’s not done second coat one more to go all right so it’s done now we gotta let it dry to the garden breathe windows open a season about the doors are closed it is hard to breathe in one hour I’m going to close the window open a door like AC return keep a vacuuming out the paint particles so it’s done it looks very good it will take a safe one week four to dry 100% because you do not want to have to come back any time in the next couple years and redo it so very satisfied how it came out always really good very clean many coats many light coats does the trick
